What is the Gacela add-on?
The Gacela add-on serves to research the usage of certain online offers. It records which websites you visit while you are using the Internet and which advertisements are displayed. The Gacela add-on is automatically activated each time the browser is opened.
How does the Gacela add-on work?
When recording advertising contacts, the respective page content is analyzed automatically. For this purpose, each time a page is visited, the source code is saved and subsequently examined for advertisements.
What data is recorded while the add-on is active?
The add-on records which websites are visited and which advertisements are displayed on those sites. This data is intended to provide information about the usage of certain online offers. You can consult the About box to see what data is recorded. You can open this box by clicking on the Gacela icon on the status bar (Firefox) or toolbar (Internet Explorer).
Does the add-on impair usage of the browser?
No. The add-on works like a silent observer in the background. The functionality of the browser is not affected in any way. If necessary for the study, questionnaires may be displayed automatically while you are using the system.
